"Artisans Giving Concrete Life"

Application Schedule and Specifications

Scoring can be preformed in a couple of ways. Pre framing scoring is as follows. Scoring is preformed after the forms are busted and framers chalk off all walls (both sides) with blue chalk and before framing on the bare slab. This process will allow for score lines to go all the way to the walls. If scoring were done after framing, then we would recommend a border be placed around the desired area. We must have one 110V outlet on a 20-amp circuit breaker within 200 ft of furthest point on slab. ICS offers straight line, shallow scoring of grids and welcomes custom work deep scoring, wide scoring, twin blades, radius cuts, Texas stars, design and layout your ideas.DO NOT TAPE TO THE FLOOR

STAIN / PRE FINISH

Stain / Pre finish is applied immediately after dry-in, before insulation, sheet rock or masonry work including stucco. We must have two 110V outlets on two separate 20-amp circuit breakers within 150 ft of furthest point on the slab. We must also have clean water access on site. ICS offers multiple colors from different manufacturers including but not limited to, Kemiko, Scofield, and Increte. These colors are applied in various ways to create a number of possibilities.  Chemically reactive stains etch its way into the concrete there fore it will last as long as the concrete finish will last. DO NOT TAPE TO THE FLOOR

After staining and pre finishing ICS will cover all stained area with paper. DO NOT TAPE TO THE FLOOR

From this point on all trades need to treat this floor as a finished product.

FINAL FINISH

Final Finish is applied after all trades are completely finished. We would prefer to do this just prior to the client occupying the facility. The painters should remove any paint, stain, texture etc. or cleaning crews prior to ICS arriving. They may use water; paint thinner, scrapper wire brushes, etc. ICS is not a cleaning crew and will assess additional charges for clean up at final finish (expensive). There will also be additional charges for work requested after final finish is completed. However, the responsible party will approve any additional work before work is done and charges are incurred. DO NOT TAPE TO THE FLOOR

Contractor Awareness

ICS works with existing concrete slabs and can put you in contact with qualified concrete installers to create a beautiful long lasting, very durable finished floor.

Concrete finishing techniques and subcontractor awareness are essential to the process. The majority of our jobs use a five-sack mix (3500 psi). Do not use applied surface curing compounds. Minimal usage of fly ash is desirable. Do not walk on slab prior to drying to avoid footprints being left on slab. On interior applications to achieve a polished, marble-like finish, the slab must be slick, hard, power trowel led, by the concrete finisher. On exterior applications to achieve a slip resistant, fossilized, limestone-like finish the surface needs to have a heavy rock salt finish. The coefficient of friction is a direct result of the way that the concrete was finished. DO NOT TAPE TO THE FLOOR

Concrete is a porous material similar to wood that allows it to be stained. Do not write on the slab with any thing but pencil. The following substances are some examples of things that may penetrate and possibly stain the slab red chalk, permanent markers, wax pencils, adhesives, flux, oils, gas, solder, paint, stain, caulk, PVC primer/cleaner, PVC adhesive, food grease, metal, rust, food, (chaw drip). Items such as lumber, poly seal, nails sawdust that are left on the concrete will draw moisture away from the slab at different rate than exposed slab so this too will cause some discoloration of the slab. These things may transfer resins and tannins to the slab witch may cause problems later on.

Framers must brace to the outside walls not the slab! Cut wall plates for doors and cased openings A.S.A.P.

Keep scored/stained area swept and cleaned. Be sure to inform all subcontractors to treat the floor as a finished product.

Use drop cloths where needed. Floor must be completely protected during primer, paint, stain, or lacquer stages. DO NOT TAPE TO THE FLOOR.

Painters may use blue tape and craft paper to protect the edges and tarps to cover the field.DO NOT TAPE TO THE FLOOR

DO NOT LEAVE BLUE TAPE OR 24-HOUR TAPE ON THE FLOOR FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS.
